Dr. O’Bannon is a native of Gulfport, Mississippi, where his family resides today. He first became interested in Orthodontics because of his own positive orthodontic treatment and relationship with his Orthodontist and staff.
He and Dr. Gililland have known each other for twenty years, since their undergraduate days at Ole Miss where they studied together and eventually became dental school roommates.
Dr. O’Bannon is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon graduation, he immediately began his service in the United States Navy as a General Dentist to fulfill his scholarship obligation. His duty stations included Okinawa, Japan and Washington, D.C. In 2005, Dr. O’Bannon received his Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. O’Bannon continued to serve in the Navy until 2007. For the last two years, he has been practicing Orthodontics in Birmingham, Alabama, but felt the call to return home.
Dr. O’Bannon is a board certified orthodontic specialist. He is a member of numerous professional organizations that include; American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, the Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association.
In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, scuba diving, flying and spending time with family and friends.
